After much work we are proud to present the new Footsteps interface at Facebook!
Large map in a separate window, where you can see your friends latest Footsteps-positions as well as Facebook Checkin!
At last we have updated the iPad version of Footsteps with the same features as the previously released Footsteps Mobile.

Many new features including the ability to watch your recorded trips and tags on a map inside the phone!
Both the full version and the LITE version include the following updates:
- NEW FEATURE: Recorded tags can now be seen on a map inside the phone
- NEW FEATURE: The recorded tag images on the map can be enlarged and rotated
- NEW FEATURE: Recorded trip can now be seen on a map inside the phone
- NEW FEATURE: The recorded trip images on the map can be enlarged and rotated
- NEW FEATURE: The user’s location can be seen when recording a trip
- Buttons made larger
- Changed the style of the publish buttons
- The shown duration time when recording a trip is now more accurate
- Added a reload button for updating the positions of the Facebook-friends on the map
Changes in the way Facebook manages images has causes some problems – images previously published in the feed along with a trip or tag are not published now. At this point we do not now if this is a bug or if this is a API-change from Facebook – while waiting for feedback from Facebook, we will investigate other methods to solve the problem.
We’ve seen a tremendous surge in sold applications lately, and thanks to reports from users (SDET, thirdspace77 and movieguy among others) we’ve uncovered issues which has been fixed now – see previous post.
Using feedback from users we’ve also started planning for a new round of improvements – this is a quote from user movieguy
“…there is no interface inside the app itself to view the info that’s being uploaded to Facebook. I would love to be able to see my route and pics right in the app itself, but it doesn’t let you do it. You take a pic or leave a note, and there’s no way to access it again in the app after the fact…”
We will introduce the possibility to view your tags and trips right into the phone – depending on how long this takes, we are also looking at other improvements, but this will be the main number. Expect a new release within two weeks.

We’ve isolated and fixed a problem with Footsteps that causes problems when uploading to Facebook – the fix is in place now, and will not need an updated application.
We expect a minor update of the application to be released to Apple within a day – a list of improvements and fixes will be posted here, on the Facebook fan page as well as well as on the AppStore as soon as the release has been approved.
